A student can apply to the intern program having the following qualifications:
- US citizenship (no dual citizenship)
- Minimum GPA of 2.75
- Completion of 60 hours of university credits
- Full-time enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate level accredited engineering or related scientific discipline degree program
In addition to the above requirements, a candidate must be prepared to present a current resume and current transcript (unofficial copy is acceptable) upon request.
To be considered for placement in an ATA University Program, a student must apply online and be interviewed by the ATA University Program staff and Interview Team. The selection process is based on GPA (both overall and in major), coursework completed, interpersonal skills, technical aptitude, organizational skills, demonstration of teamwork, related experience, and interest in the work done at AEDC.
ATA embraces the principles of equal employment opportunity and will consider a student for placement in the program without regard to race, color, religion, gender, age, national origin, disability, handicap, or veteran status (Vietnam Era or other).
An intern is typically employed over a period of approximately 10 weeks between May and August. A student may be eligible to spend one summer, or several summers, working full-time at AEDC for ATA.
Once an intern student has been accepted into the ATA University Program, he/she will not be required to re-interview for the following term(s) provided his/her work performance is acceptable and satisfactory academic standing is maintained.
An intern student may be given different work assignments for each of his/her work terms or may spend all work terms contributing to the same work area (depending on the demand for work in any given area). This provides a wealth of opportunities to learn different applications for each student's degree and field of study. Upon graduation, a student who has performed all ATA work assignments and received acceptable performance reviews may be considered a preferred candidate to be interviewed for existing job openings. |
